1961 The Beatles perform a noontime show at the Cavern Club in Liverpool then at night they perform two shows. One at the Aintree Institute in Aintree, Liverpool and then at Hambleton Hall in Huyton, Liverpool.

1962 5.00-5.29pm. BBC’s `Teeneager’s Turn (Here We Go)’ broadcast (all 7 March 1962 session except `Hello Little Girl‘).

1963 The prefix `45-’ is dropped off EMI singles catalogue numbers.`Please Please Me‘ single number 1, 3rd week (UK New Musical Express chart).

1965 Brian attends the evening presentation of this year’s Mecca Carl-Alan awards, at the Empire Ballroom, Leicester Square, London. He collects from Princess Margaret an award as best group on behalf of The Beatles, and other on behalf of Cilla Black. The awards are televised by BBC 1.

1968 UK single release: Cilla Black – Step Inside Love written by Lennon/McCartney.

1969 `Yellow Submarine‘ LP, 8th week in the Top 30 (Billboard).

1971 Recording of John Lennon’s – Power To The People.

1971 UK single release: Paul McCartney – Another Day.

1982 Startling Studios. Recording basic tracks for LP `Old Wave’. Producer: Jim Nipar.

1961 – The Beatles perform at the Cassanova Club, Liverpool, and at Litherland Town Hall, Liverpool.

1962 – The Beatles perform at Technical College Hall in Birkenhead and at the Tower Ballroom in New Brighton, Wallasey.

1963 – The Beatles perform at Carfax Assembly Rooms, Oxford, Oxfordshire.

1964 – The Beatles’ second live appearance on U.S. television, on “The Ed Sullivan Show,” exactly one week after the first. Before an audience of 3,500 at the Deauville Hotel in Miami Beach, Florida, The Beatles perform “She Loves You,” “This Boy,” “All My Loving,” “I Saw Her Standing There,” “From Me to You,” and “I Want to Hold Your Hand.” 70-75 million viewers tuned in. The show is re-broadcast on September 20.

1965 – The Beatles in the recording studio, Studio Two, EMI’s Abbey Road Studios, London. “I Need You” is completed with overdubs of George’s vocal, cowbell, and tone-pedal guitar. “Another Girl” is completed with the overdubbing of a guitar part. Then “Yes It Is” is begun and completed in 14 takes. Take 2 of “Yes It Is,” with the ending from the master version, is included on “The Beatles Anthology 2″ (Disc one, Track 2).

1967 – The Beatles in the recording studio, Studio Three, EMI’s Abbey Road Studios, London, recording vocal and bass overdubs for “Good Morning Good Morning.” “The Beatles Anthology 2″ includes this day’s completed version of the song, before animal sounds, horns, and other additional instruments are overdubbed (Disc two, Track 6). The Beatles’ promotional videos for “Strawberry Fields Forever” and “Penny Lane” are broadcast on U.K. television, on the BBC program “Top of the Pops.” “Penny Lane” is repeated on February 23 and “Strawberry Fields Forever” is repeated on March 2.

1972 – Paul McCartney and Wings performs at Leeds Town Hall.

1979 – George Harrison’s album “George Harrison” (Dark Horse K 56562) is released in the U.K. Tracks: “Love Comes to Everyone,” “Not Guilty,” “Here Comes the Moon,” “Soft Hearted Hana,” “Blow Away,” “Faster,” “Dark Sweet Lady,” “Your Love is Forever,” “Soft Touch,” and “If You Believe.” George Harrison’s single “Blow Away/Soft Touch” (Dark Horse K 17327) is released in the U.K.

1987 – The Beatles single “Strawberry Fields Forever/Penny Lane” (Parlophone RP 5570) is re-released in the U.K. 20th anniversary reissue. Issued as a regular single and also as a picture disc.

1961 – The Beatles perform at Aintree Institute, Aintree, Liverpool, and at Hambleton Hall, Huyton, Liverpool.

1962 – The Beatles perform a lunchtime show at the Cavern Club, Liverpool. That night they perform before an audience of 3,500 at the Tower Ballroom, New Brighton, Wallasey. Sharing the bill with The Beatles is Terry Lightfoot and his New Orleans Jazz Band.

1963 – The Beatles perform at the Ritz Ballroom, Birmingham.

1964 – The Beatles give an interview by telephone to Dick Clark during the ABC-TV show “American Bandstand.” That afternoon they rehearse at the Deauville Hotel in Miami Beach, Florida, for their second live appearance on “The Ed Sullivan Show.

1965 – The Beatles in the recording studio, Studio Two, EMI’s Abbey Road Studios, London, recording “Ticket to Ride,” “Another Girl,” and “I Need You.” “Ticket to Ride” is completed, but the other two songs require overdubs, which are done the following day. The Beatles’ single “Eight Days a Week/I Don’t Want to Spoil the Party” (Capitol 5371). 10 weeks on Billboard chart; highest chart position: No.1.

1968 – John Lennon and George Harrison, with their wives Cynthia and Patti, travel to Rishikesh, India, to study Transcendental Meditation with the Maharishi. Paul McCartney, Jane Asher, and Ringo Starr and his wife Maureen, follow on the 19th.

1971 – George Harrison’s single “What Is Life/Apple Scruffs” (Apple 1828) is released in the U.S.

1974 – Paul McCartney and Wings’ single “Jet/Let Me Roll It” (Apple R-5996) is released in the U.K.

1988 – George Harrison publishes a limited edition book titled “Songs by George Harrison,” available only by mail order. Each is individually autographed and the buyer had a choice of a 7″ single or 5″ CD of unreleased songs.

1961 – The Beatles perform at the Cassanova Club, Liverpool, and at Litherland Town Hall, Liverpool. Advertisements for the Cassanova Club appearance credited The Beatles as the originators of a foot-stomping dance called “The Atom Beat.” At Litherland Town Hall, while The Beatles are presenting a Valentine’s Day show, Paul McCartney sings Elvis Presley’s “Wooden Heart,” and is wearing an actual wooden heart pinned to his coat, covered with satin and embroidered with the names “John,” “Paul,” “George,” and “Pete.” The heart is raffled off, and the winner also gets a kiss from Paul. When the winning girl goes on stage to get her prize and kiss, dozens of other girls follow her, squealing in an early display of “Beatlemania.” John is knocked to the floor and the club’s bouncers close the curtain and stop the show until order has been restored. In 1996, a 35-second colour, soundless film of The Beatles performing at the Cassanova Club on this day is discovered by the son of the fan who filmed it.

1979 – George Harrison’s album “George Harrison” (Dark Horse DHK-3255) is released in the U.S. Tracks: “Love Comes to Everyone,” “Not Guilty,” “Here Comes the Moon,” “Soft Hearted Hana,” “Blow Away,” “Faster,” “Dark Sweet Lady,” “Your Love is Forever,” “Soft Touch,” and “If You Believe.” George Harrison’s single “Blow Away/Soft Hearted Hana” (Dark Horse DRC-8763) is released in the U.S.
